When and where was Herrell's® founded?

Steve Herrell opened the first Herrell's® Ice Cream in Thorne's Marketplace in Northampton, Massachusetts in 1980. This store is still in operation today.

Where is the ice cream actually made?

The ice cream is made strictly according to the Herrell's® formulas, procedures, and ingredients in each store, every day. We do not contract with any other company to make our ice cream.

Is the Herrell's® Ice Cream itself made from Steve Herrell's® original formulas, for which he gained his initial fame at his first ice cream store?

Absolutely.

What other products do you offer beside ice cream?

We make our own frozen yogurt, sorbet, sherbet, and No-Moo® (non-dairy ice cream). Availability varies from store to store, but we also sell:

Do you provide catering services for ice cream parties?

Yes! Most stores cater ice cream parties. Please call the individual stores for more information.

Is Herrell's® expanding?

Is Steve Herrell currently involved with the business?

Mr. Herrell worked full time with Herrell's® Ice Cream until 2014. At this time he is retired and writing a book about the ice cream business. Steve is available to work with current owner and family member, Judy Herrell, on special projects when requested.
